What we are experiencing today has awakened the education sector and its remote modality, which was unfairly despised and even limited by the University Law. However, this has been shown to be the best alternative in the current context.
On the one hand, we have the measures implemented by the government so that our children do not miss the school year, which is an effort worth appreciating. The collaboration of different organizations and the commitment of the sector have been key. On the other hand, we observe educational institutions that use free access online communication platforms trying to achieve the required connectivity and, thus, save the school or university year of thousands of students.
But these strategies used to respond to the emergency are far from the models implemented in leading countries in education and from what a quality online education should be.
Distance education must be planned. You need a specialized educational digital platform for this modality. Contactability apps are not enough. Likewise, the courses must be related to practices that have applications or software that the student can access from a mobile device through virtual laboratories; the materials must be fully digitized in a virtual classroom so that the student can return to them at any time; Assessments should be designed to take place remotely. There are software for this, which use facial recognition, motion detection to identify interference from third parties and the detection of inappropriate searches in search engines.
To implement this we need a clear vision that allows us to take classroom education to a distance modality. If what we dream of is an inclusive Peru, we also need to provide greater accessibility to connectivity to bring the highest level of virtual education to our entire country.
